See at night and further away
- RYYB telephoto: a yellow filter replaces the green filter and lets in more light, about 30% more according to DJI; at night, the image stays brighter and sharper than with a standard RGB sensor.
- Night mode: the 1/0.98-inch wide-angle camera opens to f/1.8 and the processor merges frames at up to 20 Hz for 4K night video; the near-infrared laser illuminator lights the scene without visible light, for covert operations.
- Detail at a distance: according to DJI, a license plate stays readable at 400 m and a screw visible at 100 m.
- Thermal fusion view: visible and thermal images combined as picture-in-picture (PIP) or MSX fusion, with outlines or thermal detail.
- Wide-angle and zoom in a single shot, and instant panoramas 2.4 times faster than with the Dock 3, according to DJI.
- Mapping: at 120 m, in nadir or oblique missions, aerial triangulation accuracy of about 10 cm at check points, with 12 MP images (DJI).
Precision and sensing
- Built-in RTK: positioning accuracy of 1 cm + 1 ppm horizontally and 1.5 cm + 1 ppm vertically; hovering within ±0.1 m in windless or light-wind conditions. Positioning resistant to GNSS jamming, with vision-assisted hovering and return when the signal is weak.
- Omnidirectional obstacle sensing: six full-color vision cameras, LiDAR, a 3D infrared sensor and a built-in millimeter-wave radar; detects an 11 mm cable, works from 0.5 lux and automatically stops the drone before a power line.
- Real-time terrain following: without a DSM file, the vision system follows the terrain during the mission, on slopes of up to 75°.
- DJI AirSense: receives ADS-B signals from manned aircraft within a 10 km radius, with alerts in DJI FlightHub 2.
- Night flights: beacon and auxiliary lighting to spot the drone.
- Real-time altitude alert as soon as the drone exceeds the set limit.
- Remote ID detection: the drone detects DJI drones broadcasting a Remote ID within a 200 m radius, for air-to-air coordination.

Transmission: O4 Enterprise Enhanced and built-in 4G
The link uses DJI O4 Enterprise Enhanced technology, relayed by the DJI O4 Ground Station: 12 km range under CE. Enhanced Transmission adds the 4G network on top of it: the drone carries dual cellular chips and only needs a nano-SIM card, with no external dongle; this service is only available in certain countries. Video is encoded in H.265 on board and relayed to the cloud without re-encoding, with about 160 ms of latency according to DJI; media downloads at 20 MB/s over the radio link and 80 MB/s over Wi-Fi.

Safety: geo caging, FTS and parachute
- Geo caging: the operator defines the flight volume and the contingency volume in DJI FlightHub 2.
- Flight termination system (FTS): built into the airframe and independent of the autopilot, it triggers automatically if the drone leaves the operation volume or in the event of an anomaly, or manually from DJI FlightHub 2; the motors stop and the parachute deploys if installed, with a flashing beacon and an audible alarm. It works even after a total loss of drone power and requires at least one 4G SIM card.
- DJI AP1 parachute: 107 g, deploys from 35 m above ground, final descent at 6 m/s or less; compliant with ASTM F3322 (more than 45 deployment tests) and with the EASA means of compliance MoC 2512. No factory inspection for three years if the self-tests pass; to be replaced after a deployment. In Europe, the Matrice 5TD ships with the parachute preinstalled; the version without a parachute is not sold there.
- Remote ID: direct remote identification broadcast in flight, under the European standard EN 4709-002.

Artificial intelligence features
- Automatic comparison between two passes: differences flagged on images and on models.
- Precise route replay: the same viewpoints on every patrol, with at least 95% overlap.
- Rapid modeling: photos are uploaded during the flight, model available in about 3 min (around a hundred photos).
- Onboard AI detection: 17 target types recognized by the drone itself, including people and vehicles filterable by color, smoke and fire, livestock (cows, horses, sheep), construction machinery, tankers, bicycles, motorcycles and floating debris.
- Analyzer Pro: detection of changes on a site and calculation of the geographic coordinates of targets.

European C5 and C6 classes
The DJI Matrice 5TD (model M5TD) falls under class C6 when used with the DJI Dock 4, and class C5 with the DJI AP1 parachute, for a maximum takeoff mass of 3,050 g. The class is a condition for the standard scenarios (C5 for STS-01, C6 for STS-02), not an authorization in itself: access also depends on the operator declaration, the remote pilot’s competency and the operations manual.
