The DJI Matrice 5T is the new compact flagship drone from DJI Enterprise, launched on 5 November 2026. It combines a 1K thermal camera, enhanced night vision, LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar and vision sensors all around the aircraft. Rated IP55 against dust and rain, it flies for up to 59 minutes and operates from -20 to 50 °C, for emergency response, inspection and surveying, day and night. 1K thermal imaging and night vision

The thermal camera has a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, four times more pixels than a 640 x 512 sensor; in UHR mode the image reaches 2560 x 2048. The wide-angle camera (1/0.98-inch sensor, f/1.8 aperture) and AI low-light enhancement deliver color images down to 0.01 lux according to DJI. The tele camera (11x optical, 176x hybrid zoom) reads a license plate up to 400 meters away, according to DJI.

Obstacle sensing day and night

For the first time on a compact DJI drone, LiDAR, millimeter-wave radar and omnidirectional vision work together. The LiDAR detects thin obstacles such as power lines up to 32 meters away at night, the radar sees through fog, rain and dust, and the color fisheye sensors keep visual positioning down to 0.5 lux. Even with a weak GNSS signal, the drone fuses vision and radar data to keep a stable flight.

On-board AI and FlightHub 2

Built-in AI models detect more than 20 target types, including vehicles and vessels, by analyzing thermal and visible feeds in parallel. With DJI FlightHub 2, operators search for targets by text or image in DJI Pilot 2 and generate patrol routes by drawing an area on the map. The open on-board computing platform also accepts third-party models.

Transmission and relay

DJI O4 Enterprise Enhanced transmission reaches up to 20 km in Europe (CE standard, no obstacles or interference). The two built-in DJI Cellular Dongle 2 modules switch automatically to the best network, and relay modes (Smart Relay, single or multi-drone operations) keep the link in difficult terrain.

Surveying and mapping

With DJI Terra, the Matrice 5T targets centimeter-level accuracy without ground control points. DJI Terra also stitches thermal images into 2D thermal maps with temperature readings for solar plants and power networks. During the flight, the remote controller processes about 200 photos in 8 minutes to produce a local point cloud or 2.5D model.

Power line inspection

The top-mounted LiDAR detects and follows conductors and ground wires for lateral flight along the line, looking for broken strands or foreign objects.

Takeoff from a moving vessel and recognition of the landing marking on the deck.

Solar and infrastructure

2D thermal maps with DJI Terra to spot anomalies on solar plants, bridges and networks.

Frequently asked questions

Is the battery included with the Matrice 5T?

No. According to DJI, the Matrice 5 Series battery (10,073 mAh, 215.2 Wh) is ordered separately and shipped separately.

What is the transmission range of the Matrice 5T in Europe?

Up to 20 km under the CE standard, without obstacles or interference. In dense urban areas, DJI states about 0.7 to 3 km.

Can the Matrice 5T fly in the rain?

It is rated IP55 against dust and water jets and operates from -20 to 50 °C. The IP rating is not permanent and may decrease with wear.

Is the Matrice 4T still available?

Yes. According to DJI, the Matrice 4T and the Matrice 5T both remain on sale.

Do the AS2 speaker and AL2 spotlight work on the Dock 4 Matrice 5TD?

No. According to DJI, the AS2 and AL2 are not compatible with the Matrice 5TD, which uses the AS2D and AL2D.
