DJI Matrice 4TD Police Response Pack

DJI Matrice 4TD Police Drone Pack: the aerial solution for law enforcement in Belgium

The DJI Matrice 4TD police drone pack is a turnkey solution for police zones in Belgium and Luxembourg. This kit includes the drone, batteries, projector and speaker necessary for public safety missions. It covers both day and night operations. In March 2026, the Kansas City Police Department launched a first responder program equipped with this drone. This deployment confirms the Matrice 4TD as an industry benchmark.

Designed by DJI for demanding environments, the Matrice 4TD combines thermal imaging, high-resolution optics, and artificial intelligence. This pack was assembled by Drone Parts Center, an authorized DJI Enterprise dealer based in Nivelles. It precisely meets the operational needs of the Benelux law enforcement agencies.

Thermal and optical camera: seeing what the human eye can’t see

The DJI Matrice 4TD police drone has five sensors on a single gimbal. The uncooled infrared thermal camera (vanadium oxide) offers a native resolution of 640×512 pixels. In super-resolution mode, it reaches 1280×1024 pixels at 30 fps. This performance makes it possible to detect a heat signature through dense vegetation or smoke.

Three optical cameras complete the system. The 48 MP wide-angle camera (f/1.7, 24 mm) covers large areas. The 48 MP medium telephoto lens (f/2.8, 70 mm) identifies details at mid-range. The 48 MP telephoto lens (f/2.8, 168 mm) reads license plates from more than 250 meters away. The combined optical and digital zoom achieve a hybrid magnification of 112x.

The built-in laser rangefinder measures distances up to 1,800 meters. Its accuracy is ±0.2 meters. This capability is essential for the reconstruction of accident or crime scenes. It provides georeferenced GPS coordinates that can be used by forensic science.

Advanced night mode for night operations

The extended ISO sensitivity (up to 819,200 on the telephoto) and IR-Cut filter allow for color or black-and-white night vision. Combined with the NIR auxiliary light, this capability turns the Matrice 4TD into an uncompromised night patrol tool. According to DJI, these improvements offer a 37% gain over previous models.

Autonomy and resistance: operational in all conditions

The DJI Matrice 4TD has a maximum battery life of 54 minutes under controlled conditions. In real use, it takes about 49 minutes of flight. At 15 m/s, it offers 18 minutes of operation within a radius of 10 km. Charging from 15% to 95% takes only 27 minutes.

Its IP55 certification guarantees resistance to rain, dust and wind up to 12 m/s. The operating temperature range is from −30 °C to +50 °C. All Belgian weather conditions are covered, summer and winter.

The drone weighs around 1,850 g and has fixed arms. The deployment is therefore immediate, without arms to unfold. Take-off is completed in less than 15 seconds after power is turned on. This is a decisive advantage in urgent interventions.

Artificial Intelligence and Flight Safety

The Matrice 4TD incorporates an AI processor capable of detecting people, vehicles and boats in real time. This detection reduces the cognitive load of the pilot on a research mission. The drone transmits a 1080p video stream at 30 fps to the RC Plus 2 Enterprise remote controller.

The obstacle detection module combines a rotating LiDAR and a millimeter-wave radar. It locates 12 mm cables at a speed of 15 m/s. In complex urban environments, this technology significantly reduces the risk of collision.

On-board relay function

A major innovation of the Matrice 4TD is its overhead relay function. A first drone flies at altitude and transmits the video signal from a second drone. This architecture does not require any 4G signal. It is ideal for rural or mountainous areas where network coverage is limited.

Contents of the police intervention pack

This package has been configured to allow for a full day of operations without extended interruptions. Here are the details of the elements included:

• DJI Matrice 4TD – Complete Drone with 1 Battery and RC Plus 2 Enterprise Remote Controller
• 4 additional DJI Matrice 4D Series batteries – 5 batteries in total for approximately 4 hours of cumulative flight time
• 2 DJI Cellular Dongle 2 – 4G LTE connectivity for drone and remote controller
• DJI AL1 Spotlight: 2,000 lumen projector for night operations and searching for people
• DJI AS1 Speaker: 120 dB speaker with 300-meter range, live mic, pre-recorded messages, and text-to-speech
• RC Plus 2 Strap – strap and ergonomic support for pilot comfort on extended missions

Operational missions covered

This DJI Matrice 4TD police drone responds to the main intervention scenarios of law enforcement. The thermal imaging camera is the central asset for the search for missing persons, day and night. The 112x zoom allows you to identify vehicles and suspects from a safe distance. The officers thus remain out of danger.

The 48 MP wide-angle camera and laser rangefinder produce high-precision georeferenced images. This data is used for the 3D reconstruction of accident or crime scenes. They meet the requirements of forensic science in terms of traceability.

The AS1 loudspeaker and AL1 floodlight provide aerial communication and tactical lighting. The sound range reaches 300 meters. The projector delivers 2,000 lumens. This performance covers the needs of policing and event management.

Concrete examples of missions

Police zones use this type of pack for several scenarios. Among them: surveillance and night air patrol, the search for missing persons by thermal imaging, the reconstruction of accident or crime scenes. It is also used for policing at public events, tactical support with lighting and communication, and perimeter surveillance.

Regulatory framework for police zones in Belgium

Belgian police and rescue services benefit from legal exemptions. The European Regulation EU 2019/947, article 2.3.a, is the basis for this. This provision allows law enforcement to operate without derived authorization.

Scalability: Towards Autonomous Operations with DJI Dock 3

The DJI Matrice 4TD is natively compatible with the DJI Dock 3. This autonomous docking station transforms the drone into a 24/7 surveillance platform. Dock 3 handles takeoff, landing, recharging, and launching scheduled missions. This is done via DJI FlightHub 2, without human intervention on site.

For police zones considering a “drone first responder” program, this architecture is the next step. In Kansas City, a drone reached the scene in less than 30 seconds after being alerted. This time saving drastically reduces response times. It also improves the safety of officers in the field.
