The Kronos M4D is the most advanced safety system in the Kronos range, specifically designed for the DJI Matrice 4D and its autonomous operations via the Dock 3. Developed by Dronavia, it integrates a Parachute Recovery System (PRS) and a Flight Termination System (FTS) to achieve Class C5 EASA compliance.

The key argument for the Kronos M4D: it secures autonomous Dock 3 operations, a critical concern for BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) missions where no pilot is present to intervene manually.

Secured Autonomous Operations with Dock 3

The DJI Matrice 4D paired with the Dock 3 enables fully automated missions: infrastructure surveillance, industrial inspection, repetitive mapping. The Kronos M4D adds an essential safety layer:

• 100% autonomous triggering: no human intervention required
• Real-time anomaly detection: the system reacts instantly to any loss of control
• Deployment in 0.27 seconds: immediate protection of people and property on the ground
• Compatible with Dock 3 automatic cycles: the system resets between missions

Triggering: Klick radio only

Important: Currently, the Kronos M4D system can only be triggered via the Klick radio remote control included with the kit. It is not yet possible to trigger the system remotely via a fleet management platform such as DJI FlightHub 2 or equivalent. This limitation will be lifted in a future firmware update. The Klick remote nonetheless offers a 1.5 km range, sufficient for most Dock 3 operation scenarios.

Geolock Option: Advanced Geocaging (available September 2025)

The Kronos M4D can be equipped with the Geolock module, a geocaging system that confines the drone within a predefined geographic area. If the drone exits this area, the FTS triggers automatically. This feature is particularly relevant for:

• BVLOS operations in sensitive areas
• Flights over populated zones
• SORA authorizations requiring containment guarantees

Class C5 Compliance and EASA Regulation

• MoC 2511 – Flight Termination System (FTS): compliant internal circuit breaker
• MoC 2512-M2 – Parachute Recovery System (PRS): certified recovery system

The conversion kit transforms your DJI Matrice 4D into a Kronos AD Matrice 4D (Class C5), meeting EASA requirements for the specific category (STS-01, STS-02, SORA/PDRA).

Internal FTS Installation

FTS installation in the DJI Matrice 4D requires a certified technician. Drone Parts Center has a dedicated workshop in Nivelles (Belgium) for this operation. Postal delivery is also available (shipping costs on request or at your expense).

The DJI manufacturer warranty is preserved: kit removal required before any DJI repair request.

Annual Maintenance and Inspection

Annual inspection is mandatory to maintain compliance. It includes:

• Full PRS and FTS inspection
• Deployment test
• Replacement of consumables if necessary
• Certification renewal for 12 months
