At a glance
The DJI Matrice 5TD intelligent flight battery (model BPX340, 12,138 mAh, 21.42 V) powers the drone of the DJI Dock 4 system. It is not supplied with the drone. In the dock, the battery swapping module automatically replaces the drone’s battery with a charged one: DJI recommends four batteries per system, and at least three for continuous operations.

For the DJI Matrice 5TD and the DJI Dock 4 station. The four recommended batteries are included in the DJI Dock 4 + Matrice 5TD bundle.
How many batteries to plan for
The DJI Dock 4 battery swapping module has four compartments and stores up to three batteries. DJI recommends four batteries per system (one drone, one dock), one in the drone and three in the dock; at least three are needed for continuous operations with battery rotation.

Battery features
- Self-heating: in low temperatures, the battery warms up automatically once inserted into the powered-on drone; the drone takes off once the battery is up to temperature.
- Kept warm in the dock: when idle in cold weather, the dock keeps the battery above 10 °C.
- Always ready in the Dock 4: “Standby” mode only, batteries are kept at 95%; a swap only happens if the best battery is above 90%.
- Deep discharge protection when the drone is powered off.
- Battery level indicator with LEDs.

Care and storage
- Fully charge the battery at least once every three months.
- For transport, discharge the battery to 30% or less.
- Maximum storage time depends on the charge level: about 120 days at 10%, 240 days at 20% and 360 days at 40% (theoretical values at room temperature, reduced in hot conditions).
- Use only official DJI batteries: a non-official battery causes the drone to lose its IP55 protection.

Frequently asked questions
Are batteries supplied with the DJI Matrice 5TD?
No. Intelligent flight batteries are sold separately. The DJI Dock 4 + Matrice 5TD bundle includes the four batteries recommended by DJI.
How many batteries does a DJI Dock 4 need?
DJI recommends four batteries per system, one in the drone and three in the dock’s battery swapping module. Three batteries are the minimum for continuous operations with battery rotation.
Does the battery work in very cold weather?
It self-heats once inserted into the powered-on drone, and the dock keeps it above 10 °C when the drone is idle in cold weather.
How should I store a DJI Matrice 5TD battery?
Fully charge it at least once every three months. Maximum storage time depends on the charge level, for example about 360 days at 40%, less in high heat.
How does the DJI Dock 4 swap the battery?
When the drone returns, the dock’s four-compartment swapping module removes the depleted battery and inserts a charged one in under 25 s; the drone can take off again in under 45 s. Waiting batteries are recharged in the dock, two at a time, kept at 95% and warm in cold weather. See the DJI Dock 4 station and the full Drone In the Box range.
