DJI Care Basic, Plus or Zen Pack: The Right Choice for Your Profile

dji care enterprise plus (dji matrice 4td)

A DJI Matrice 400 delivered with DJI Care Enterprise Plus included, but with its Zenmuse H30T payload left completely unprotected: this is the most common trap operators discover only after a first incident. DJI Care Enterprise Basic, DJI Care Enterprise Plus and the Zen Pack do not cover the same thing. This guide compares the three options based on the official terms and the public pricing listed by Drone Parts Center, Authorized Dealer for DJI Enterprise in the Benelux, on the platforms currently on sale.

The scenario that changes everything: a covered drone, a separate payload

Picture a situation we see regularly with institutional clients: a DJI Matrice 400 fitted with a Zenmuse H30T payload is flying a thermal inspection over an industrial site during its first year in service. An unexpected gust or a poorly anticipated obstacle causes a collision. The aircraft lands safely, but both the Matrice 400 airframe and the H30T payload show visible damage.

Year 1: the drone is already covered, at no extra cost

The DJI Matrice 400 (EUR 9,648 including VAT) ships with a DJI Care Enterprise Plus plan included for 12 months. With no further action needed, the drone’s airframe can be repaired or replaced free of charge within the coverage cap, with no deductible and return shipping covered by DJI. The DJI Matrice 4TD (EUR 7,089 including VAT) follows the same policy: DJI Care Enterprise Plus included for 1 year from purchase. On this specific point, the scenario ends well for the airframe.

The real question: what about the H30T payload, and next year?

The catch is that the Zenmuse H30T payload is a separate product, with its own DJI Care code and its own price: EUR 1,098 including VAT for Basic, EUR 2,227 for Plus. Without that protection purchased separately at the time of acquisition, repairing the damaged payload is billed at full price, even though the drone carrying it is perfectly covered. For a sensor in this range, the out-of-warranty bill runs into several thousand euros. Second catch: the coverage included on the Matrice 400 or Matrice 4TD is only valid for 12 months. Renewal must happen before expiry or within the following 15 days, on the same tier (Plus, since that’s what came included), at a renewal price of EUR 879 for the Matrice 400 and EUR 930 for the Matrice 4TD, renewable up to two more times (3 years of coverage total). The real decision isn’t “should I add DJI Care to my Matrice 400?” (already included), but “is my payload protected, and is the renewal scheduled?”

DJI Care Basic vs Plus: the real choice, on platforms sold bare

On platforms sold without included DJI Care, such as the Mavic 3T or Mavic 3E, the choice between Basic and Plus genuinely arises at purchase. The table below illustrates this choice with Mavic 3T pricing (Basic EUR 499, Plus EUR 999) and places the Zen Pack, which complements both DJI Care tiers.

Criterion DJI Care Enterprise Basic DJI Care Enterprise Plus Zen Pack (DPC)
What it covers Replacement of damaged hardware Repair or replacement of damaged hardware Training + technical support + operational continuity

Validity period 12 months, renewable (3 consecutive years max.) 12 months, renewable (3 consecutive years max.) 2 years
Indicative price (DPC listing) EUR 499 (Mavic 3T), EUR 319 (Mavic 3E) EUR 999 (Mavic 3T), EUR 639 (Mavic 3E) EUR 799 (Zen Hours Pack), EUR 990 (Zen Pack), EUR 1,490 (Zen Plus Pack)

Coverage caps and pricing vary by platform (drone or payload) and by product line: check the DJI Care listing that matches your specific device before finalizing your choice. If your organization still operates previous-generation platforms, the same Basic vs Plus principles apply: refer to the DJI Care listing for your exact model.

Which plan fits your profile?

Police or emergency services fleet: Matrice 4TD or Matrice 400, the renewal and payload question

A police unit or emergency service operating several Matrice 4TD or Matrice 400 units already receives a DJI Care Enterprise Plus plan included for 12 months on each aircraft at purchase. The real fleet management work starts afterward: scheduling the renewal (EUR 879 for a Matrice 400, EUR 930 for a Matrice 4TD) on each aircraft before expiry or within the following 15 days, and purchasing a separate DJI Care Enterprise Basic or Plus plan for each payload in use (H30T in particular, which is not covered by the drone’s included plan). For a fleet linked within 30 days of first activation, Plus coverage caps can be pooled. On top of that, the Zen Plus Pack specifically targets this profile: if an aircraft needs to be grounded for repair, an equivalent loaner unit is made available from our Nivelles workshop, so the operational schedule doesn’t have to change.

Independent surveyor: Mavic 3E, a Basic or Plus choice that really matters

For a surveyor or geomatics professional running a single aircraft, often a Mavic 3E, DJI Care Enterprise is not included at purchase: the choice between Basic (EUR 319) and Plus (EUR 639) arises right at checkout. Whenever the Mavic 3E is the primary production tool with no backup machine, Plus is the best-suited plan: it removes the risk of fronting several hundred, or even thousand, euros in repair costs, and includes flyaway coverage plus free factory maintenance on this model. But a surveyor’s risk isn’t limited to hardware damage: a D-RTK 3 base showing an NTRIP error thirty minutes before a site survey can derail a mission without any physical damage at all. That second risk is exactly what the Zen Pack covers, with unlimited priority technical support for two years and a response time under four business hours.

Dock operator: DJI Dock 3 and Matrice 4TD, 24/7 continuity comes first

The DJI Dock 3 (EUR 12,960 including VAT) is sold without a drone and is compatible with the DJI Matrice 4TD and DJI Matrice 4D. The included DJI Care Enterprise Plus protection applies to the drone operating from the station (the Matrice 4TD, 12 months then renewal at EUR 930), not to the docking station itself, which has no dedicated DJI Care plan. For continuity while the drone is grounded, the Zen Plus Pack completes the hardware protection: “Dock / BVLOS operators” is explicitly listed as a target use case, with a loaner unit available for the duration of the repair, so automated patrols aren’t interrupted.

The 15-day window: at activation and at renewal alike

One technical point deserves attention no matter your profile: whether DJI Care Enterprise is purchased separately (Mavic 3E, Mavic 3T, H30T payload) or already included at purchase (Matrice 400, Matrice 4TD), the initial activation or the renewal must happen within 15 days of expiry or of the drone’s own activation. Past that window, DJI requires a video verification process, which adds delay and isn’t guaranteed to succeed. The same short-window logic applies to fleet pooling under the Plus plan: devices must be linked within 30 days of first activation. For an organization planning to acquire several aircraft, this is a strong argument for a grouped order and a strict calendar tracking of the included DJI Care expiry dates.

Frequently asked questions

My Matrice 400 or Matrice 4TD ships with DJI Care Enterprise Plus included: do I still need to buy it?

Not in year one. Do plan the renewal before expiry or within the following 15 days, on the same tier, to avoid losing coverage.

Does the DJI Care Enterprise Plus included on my drone also cover my payload?

No. A payload such as the Zenmuse H30T is a separate product, with its own DJI Care code and its own price (Basic or Plus), to be purchased separately.

Can I switch from Plus to Basic at renewal time to save money?

No. Renewal keeps you on the same tier as your current contract; switching plans is not possible.

Does the Zen Pack replace DJI Care Enterprise?

No. DJI Care Enterprise (DJI) covers repair or replacement of the drone and its payloads. The Zen Pack (Drone Parts Center) covers training and priority technical support, with an option (Zen Plus Pack) for a loaner unit during repairs. The two combine; they don’t substitute for each other.

Are all drones covered under the Zen Pack?

No. Cleaning drones fitted with high-pressure spraying systems (for example SkyInnov Aquila 3 PUL-V type models) are excluded. Contact our team for this type of equipment to discuss a suitable solution.

What’s the difference between DJI Care Enterprise and third-party liability (RC) insurance?

DJI Care Enterprise protects your hardware (the drone and its payloads) in case of accidental damage. It never covers damage your drone might cause to a third party: that’s the role of drone liability insurance, mandatory for any professional operation. For a detailed breakdown, see our guide: DJI Care vs Drone Liability Insurance: The Mistake Not to Make.
