DJI Care Basic, Plus or Zen Pack: The Right Choice for Your Profile

dji care enterprise plus (dji matrice 4td)

A DJI Matrice 400 delivered with DJI Care Enterprise Plus included, but whose Zenmuse H30T gimbal is not protected by any program: this is the most common trap for operators who only discover the DJI Care terms after a first incident. DJI Care Enterprise Basic, DJI Care Enterprise Plus and the Zen Pack do not cover the same things. This guide compares the three options based on the official terms and public rates of Drone Parts Center, Authorized Dealer for DJI Enterprise in the Benelux, on the platforms currently on sale.

The scenario that changes everything: a covered drone, a gimbal on its own

Picture a situation common among our institutional customers: a DJI Matrice 400 equipped with a Zenmuse H30T gimbal is carrying out a thermal inspection of an industrial site during its first year of operation. An unexpected gust of wind or a poorly anticipated obstacle causes a collision. The drone lands as an emergency: the Matrice 400 body and the H30T gimbal both show visible damage.

Year 1: the drone is already covered, without anything having been purchased

The DJI Matrice 400 (€9,648 incl. VAT) is sold with DJI Care Enterprise Plus included for 12 months. Without any additional step, the drone body can therefore be repaired or replaced free of charge within the coverage cap, with no deductible, and return transport covered by DJI. The DJI Matrice 4TD (€7,089 incl. VAT) follows the same policy: DJI Care Enterprise Plus included for 1 year from purchase. On this specific point, the scenario ends well for the drone body.

The real question: the H30T gimbal, and next year?

The issue is that the Zenmuse H30T gimbal is a separate product, with its own DJI Care code and its own rate: €1,098 incl. VAT for Basic, €2,227 incl. VAT for Plus. Without this protection purchased separately at the time of purchase, repairing a damaged gimbal is billed at full rate, even if the drone body carrying it is fully covered. For a sensor in this range, the out-of-warranty bill runs into several thousand euros. Second trap: the coverage included on the Matrice 400 or the Matrice 4TD is only valid for 12 months. Renewal must take place before expiry or within the following 15 days, in the same plan (Plus, since that is the one included originally), at a rate of €879 incl. VAT for the Matrice 400 and €930 incl. VAT for the Matrice 4TD, renewable up to twice (3 years of coverage in total). The real decision is therefore not “does my Matrice 400 need DJI Care?” (already included), but “is my gimbal protected, and is the renewal scheduled?”

DJI Care Basic vs Plus: the real choice, on platforms sold without coverage

On platforms sold without DJI Care included, such as the Mavic 3T or the Mavic 3E, the choice between Basic and Plus genuinely arises at the time of purchase. The table below illustrates this choice with Mavic 3T rates (Basic €499 incl. VAT, Plus €999 incl. VAT) and positions the Zen Pack, which complements both plans.

Criteria DJI Care Enterprise Basic DJI Care Enterprise Plus Zen Pack (DPC)

The exact coverage caps and rates vary by platform (drone or gimbal) and by range: check the DJI Care sheet matching your equipment in our catalogue before finalising your choice. If your organisation still operates previous-generation platforms, the same Basic vs Plus principles apply: refer to the DJI Care sheet for your exact model.

Which plan fits your profile?

Police or emergency services: Matrice 4TD or Matrice 400, the renewal and gimbal question

A police zone or emergency service operating several Matrice 4TD or Matrice 400 units already receives, at purchase, DJI Care Enterprise Plus included for 12 months on each unit. The real fleet management work starts afterwards: scheduling the renewal (€879 for a Matrice 400, €930 for a Matrice 4TD) on each unit before expiry or within the following 15 days, and purchasing DJI Care Enterprise Basic or Plus separately for each gimbal in use (notably the H30T, which is not covered by the drone’s program). For a fleet linked within 30 days of first activation, Plus coverage caps can be pooled. In addition, the Zen Plus Pack specifically targets this profile: in the event of downtime for repair, equivalent courtesy equipment is made available from our Nivelles workshop, so the operational schedule does not need to be reworked.

Independent surveyor: Mavic 3E, a Basic or Plus choice that genuinely applies

For a surveyor operating with a single unit, often a Mavic 3E, DJI Care Enterprise is not included at purchase: the choice between Basic (€319 incl. VAT) and Plus (€639 incl. VAT) arises right at the order. Once the Mavic 3E is the primary production tool, with no backup unit, the Plus plan is the better fit: it removes the risk of having to front several hundred, even thousands of euros in repair costs, and includes flyaway coverage plus free factory maintenance on this model. But a surveyor’s risk is not limited to physical damage: a D-RTK 3 base displaying an NTRIP error thirty minutes before a site survey can jeopardise a mission without any physical damage at all. This second risk is what the Zen Pack covers, with unlimited priority technical support for two years and a response time under four business hours.

Dock operators: DJI Dock 3 and Matrice 4TD, continuity around the clock first

The DJI Dock 3 (€12,960 incl. VAT) is sold without a drone and is compatible with the DJI Matrice 4TD and the DJI Matrice 4D. The included DJI Care Enterprise Plus protection applies to the drone operating from the station (the Matrice 4TD, 12 months then renewal at €930), not to the station itself, which has no dedicated DJI Care program. For continuity while the drone is grounded, the Zen Plus Pack completes the hardware protection: the “Dock / BVLOS operator” profile is explicitly one of the targeted use cases, with relay equipment available for the duration of the repair, so automated patrols are not interrupted.

The 15-day window: applies at activation and at renewal alike

One technical point deserves particular attention regardless of your profile: whether DJI Care Enterprise is purchased separately (Mavic 3E, Mavic 3T, H30T gimbal) or already included at purchase (Matrice 400, Matrice 4TD), the initial activation or renewal must take place within 15 days of the expiry or activation of the drone itself. Beyond that window, a video verification procedure by DJI becomes necessary, which extends the process and is not guaranteed to succeed. The same short-window principle applies to fleet pooling under the Plus plan: units must be linked within 30 days of first activation. For an organisation planning the acquisition of several units, this makes the case for a grouped order and strict calendar tracking of the expiry dates of the included DJI Care.

Frequently asked questions

My Matrice 400 or my Matrice 4TD comes with DJI Care Enterprise Plus included: do I still need to buy it?

Not in the first year. Do plan the renewal before expiry or within the following 15 days, in the same plan, to avoid losing the protection.

Does the DJI Care Enterprise Plus included on my drone also cover my gimbal?

No. A gimbal such as the Zenmuse H30T is a separate product, with its own DJI Care code and its own rate (Basic or Plus), to be purchased separately.

Can I switch from the Plus plan to the Basic plan at renewal, to lower the cost?

No. Renewal is carried out under the same plan as the current contract, with no option to change plan along the way.

Does the Zen Pack replace DJI Care Enterprise?

No. DJI Care Enterprise (DJI) covers the replacement or repair of the drone and its gimbals. The Zen Pack (Drone Parts Center) covers training and priority technical support, with an optional courtesy equipment loan (Zen Plus Pack). The two combine, they do not substitute for one another.

Are all drones covered by the Zen Pack?

No. Cleaning drones fitted with high-pressure spraying systems (for example SkyInnov Aquila 3 PUL-V type models) are excluded. Contact our team for this type of equipment so we can look into a suitable solution.

What is the difference between DJI Care Enterprise and Civil Liability (RC) insurance?

DJI Care Enterprise protects your equipment (the drone and its gimbals) in the event of accidental damage. It never covers damage your drone might cause to a third party: that is the role of drone liability insurance, mandatory for any professional operation.
