The DJI Matrice 4TD firefighter drone is transforming rescue operations in Belgium. This complete package equips rescue zones, firefighters and civil protection with an aerial platform capable of detecting victims under the rubble, monitoring the spread of a fire and coordinating ground teams in real time. High-sensitivity thermal camera: detecting the invisible during an intervention

The heart of the DJI Matrice 4TD firefighter drone is its 640×512 pixel thermal sensor. Its sensitivity of less than 50 mK makes it possible to distinguish a human body through thick smoke, under rubble or in a dense wooded area. In super-resolution mode, the image reaches 1280×1024 pixels, offering an unparalleled level of detail.

This infrared sensor is accompanied by three complementary optical cameras. The 48 MP wide-angle camera (24 mm, f/1.7) provides an overview of the disaster. The 48 MP (70 mm) medium-tele camera allows structural damage to be assessed at medium distances. Finally, the 48 MP (168 mm) telephoto camera with 112x hybrid zoom identifies critical details, such as the condition of a floor or roof, from a safe distance.

Concrete use case: thermal reconnaissance of a burning building

Before engaging ground crews, the Operations Commander deploys the Matrice 4TD to obtain a thermal map of the building. In less than 3 minutes, the drone identifies hotspots, areas of potential spread and possible trapped victims. This information, transmitted live via DJI FlightHub 2, allows for informed tactical decisions to be made before any engagement.

Tactical equipment: AL1 projector and AS1 loudspeaker

Night-time interventions represent a major challenge for the emergency services. The DJI AL1 Spotlight projector, integrated into the pack, delivers 2000 lumens to illuminate an area of operation from the air. It also serves as an aerial beacon to guide ground crews to victims located by the thermal camera.

The DJI AS1 Speaker completes the device with a power of 120 dB. It allows direct communication with victims, evacuation instructions or guidance to teams in noisy environments. These two accessories turn the DJI Matrice 4TD firefighter drone into a true air command tool.

The DJI Matrice 4TD firefighter drone is IP55 certified. It is resistant to driving rain, dense smoke and dust splashes. Its operating range is from -30°C to +50°C. In Belgium, this robustness makes it possible to intervene all year round, regardless of the weather conditions.

With 49 minutes of battery life and a 15% to 95% charge in just 27 minutes, the Matrice 4TD covers large-scale operations without interruption. It takes off in 10 seconds, a crucial asset in emergency operations where every moment counts.

Obstacle Avoidance System

The omnidirectional detection system locates 12 mm electrical cables at a flight speed of 15 m/s. This capability significantly reduces the risk of collision during low-level flights over disaster areas, where infrastructure can be damaged and unpredictable.
