At Drone Parts Center, we strive to keep our customers up to date with the latest technological advances in the drone world. Today, we’d like to tell you about the recent update to DJI Terra mapping software.
What’s new in DJI Terra :
- LiDAR point cloud reconstruction: DJI Terra now supports DEM generation during LiDAR point cloud reconstruction.
- Updated workflow for clustered reconstruction: DJI Terra mapping software now supports multiple working devices on a single computer. These devices can be added or removed automatically, and more information about them is now displayed.
- Cluster output directory: It is now possible to set the cluster output directory to a DOS network drive, such as “Z: \DJI\Terra”, facilitating access to working devices.
- Quality report for the LiDAR point cloud: The layout of the quality report has been updated for improved readability.
- Help Center: Users are now redirected to the DJI Terra web page to download product manuals.
Mapping software enhancements :
- Point cloud accuracy optimization: DJI has improved the accuracy of the point cloud accuracy optimization function.
- Restricted zone: It can now be disabled by default.
- Gimbal tilt angle: It is now possible to set the gimbal tilt angle to over 30 degrees for detailed inspection missions with the DJI Matrice 300 RTK UAV.
Corrections brought by the update :
- Quality report: A display error in the exported PDF file has been corrected.
- PCM management: Problems with screen latency when selecting the “Optimize” option and occasional network connection errors when accessing the PCM management page or the ROI page have been resolved.

Important note: For DJI Terra versions v3.8.0 and later, when using the free trial license from the official website and running paid functions in LiDAR point cloud reconstruction, the maximum number of imported files must not exceed 8 GB.
