A multi-gas sensor for drones, from pollution mapping to emergency response<\/h2>\n

The AIRINS Sniffer4D Nano 2 Plus turns a DJI Enterprise drone into a mobile air quality monitoring station. It maps air pollution around an industrial site, a landfill or an urban area, helps locate a leak on an installation, and gives emergency teams a reading of the gases present without putting anyone in the plume. An active, fan-driven air intake significantly shortens sensor response time.<\/p>\n

\"Sniffer4D<\/a><\/figure>\n

Up to 6 parameters across 5 slots<\/h2>\n

The Multi-Gas unit takes any 5 modules and measures up to 6 parameters at once, since the O3 + NO2 module counts as two. Ten modules are available: particulate matter PM 1 \/ 2.5 \/ 10, O3 + NO2, NO2, CO, SO2, H2S, NH3, Odour (OU), TVOC and HCHO. Temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure are measured continuously, in addition to the selected modules.<\/p>\n

Two configurations are used on their own, with no other module: the TSP \/ PM100 total dust module and the MP-TDLAS methane unit (laser absorption, sensitive to methane only, limit of detection of 200 ppb). Direct fit on DJI Matrice 4D \/ 4TD and Dock 3, via kit on other Matrice models; compatible with Matrice 5TD and Dock 4<\/h2>\n

On the DJI Matrice 4D \/ 4TD and the DJI Dock 3, the Sniffer4D Nano 2 Plus connects directly to the E-Port, with mounting screws included. It then flies automated missions from the dock. Its 6 status LEDs remain visible in the Dock 3 camera feed.<\/p>\n

Integration kits, sold separately, fit it to the DJI Matrice 400 (up to two units), Matrice 350 RTK \/ 300 RTK, Matrice 4E \/ 4T and Matrice 30 \/ 30T. PSDK integration is complete: data and controls in DJI Pilot 2, and integration with DJI FlightHub 2, including DJI FlightHub 2 On-Premises. Real-time data, even without a network<\/h2>\n

The built-in LTE module, with no external antenna, sends encrypted readings to AIRINS.ai once per second. A SIM card with a data plan is required: your own or one supplied by AIRINS. If the link drops, the sensor stores up to 12 hours of data and uploads it automatically once the network is back. Each mission is also recorded as a CSV file on the 32 GB MicroSD card supplied.<\/p>\n

Without 4G, the mission does not appear automatically in the AIRINS.ai history: you then need to copy the files from the MicroSD card and import them. Missions from the DJI Dock 3 or DJI FlightHub 2 require a 4G connection.<\/p>\n

AIRINS.ai, included with purchase<\/h2>\n

The AIRINS.ai software is included with purchase, for perpetual use with one unit and one main account, together with one year of remote technical support and updates. A subscription is available as an alternative to purchase. The platform covers the entire mission cycle:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • in flight: trend curves, flight path, point cloud, hexagonal grid and heat map, with mean and peak values per cell;<\/li>\n
  • automated missions triggered by geofenced start and end zones;<\/li>\n
  • after the flight: 2D and 3D maps, interpolated heat maps, dual or quad views, multi-criteria search of the history;<\/li>\n
  • mission reports in PDF or editable DOCX;<\/li>\n
  • CSV, Shapefile and GeoJSON import and export, encrypted MQTT transfer to your own systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Getting started and good practice<\/h2>\n

    Allow the sensor to stabilise for at least 3 minutes before the mission. To locate an emission source, AIRINS recommends flying at no more than 8 m\/s, ideally around 5 m\/s. The unit is rated IP55 and can withstand a brief shower, but rain and high humidity reduce measurement accuracy, so they are best avoided. Firmware is updated from the MicroSD card in about 5 minutes.<\/p>\n

    Warranty, calibration and service life<\/h2>\n

    Warranty.<\/strong> Standard one-year warranty. The extension can only be purchased with the initial order, at 20% of the total product value per additional year, up to two years of extension. After the warranty period, the hardware and software remain fully usable.<\/p>\n

    Calibration.<\/strong> Units are factory-calibrated before shipment. Recalibration is recommended every 12 months in a stable operating environment. If working conditions change (temperature, measurement environment), some modules require their zero point to be readjusted. Two methods are available:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • By the customer. Injection of a calibration gas or comparison with the reference equipment of a measuring station. The new correction factor is calculated using the manufacturer’s formula, then saved in the calibration interface of the AIRINS.ai platform.<\/li>\n
    • By return to the factory, for annual inspection and calibration. Free of charge during the warranty period, with shipping costs borne by the customer. Outside the warranty, it is invoiced according to the inspection results, with costs communicated for prior approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Service life.<\/strong> 3 years on average, depending on how often the unit is used and the concentration levels encountered. This lifetime is shorter with frequent use in heavily polluted areas.<\/p>\n
